VHF Radio Licence

One of the most basic pieces of safety equipment used at sea is the VHF Radio. Whether it is just for listening to weather reports or instructions from the race committee at a regatta or whether it is going to be used to communicate with another vessel or shore-based station to pass on information of a casual or safety at sea nature requires the operator to have a VHF Radio Licence. This licence isn't bought at the Post Office like a TV licence it requires a course to be followed and an exam to  be passed, just like a driving licence.

The Kinsale Outdoor Education Centre runs day courses called VHF RADIO SRC 1 & 2.
