A Leagacy like no other

The Irish Paralympic Team finish up in Rio.

Our paralympic sailors has just finished up in Rio and the regatta didn't quite go their way. Their campaign, however, will serve to inspire a whole new generation of sailors if the current participation in the sailability class on Saturday mornings is anything to go by.

We as sailors know only too well that sometimes things on the race course don't go your way no matter what you try. And we as a club are incredibly proud of what the lads have achieved in what was a very difficult venue to sail in.

The regatta brings to an end the longest serving paralympic career the country has ever had. And it is only fitting that we salute John Twomey's achievements. We are not the only ones to do so. Click here to see Afloat's tribute to the man.

Well done to John, Ian and Austin.
