Dromineer 24HR 2010
12 May, 2010
To coincide with the midsummer weekend in Lough Derg, and also the club's 175th anniversary, Dromineer will be the venue for a 24-hour racing challenge, with teams racing around the clock on IRC and Portsmouth Yardstick handicap systems, with the boat sailing the farthest after penalties have been applied, the winner.
The race will be held on Dromineer Bay from 1700 hours on Friday 18 June to 1700 on Saturday 19 June and there are two divisions:
Entry is open to all dinghies rated under The Portland Yardstick. No single handers.
This is a team event. There will be crew change-overs during the race. Change-overs will take place at the change-over platform located in front on the Club House. Teams must be comprised of 3 crews! This means, if you enter a two person boat you must have 6 team members. If you enter a 3 person boat, you must have 9 team members. Teams will be issued with temporary navigation lights which must be used during the designated times.
Entry is open to all cruisers. Scoring will be under IRC.
Crew members do not change over like the dinghy division. The crew you start with is the crew you race with and the crew you finsih with. If the VOR crews can do it, so can you!
All cruisers must be equiped with the legally mandated safety equiptment and all navigation lights must be working.
The course will be an anticlockwise lap of Dromineer Bay.
Entries must be in by June 7: http://www.dromineer24.com/
