Rear Commodore House Update Feb. 2015

Hi everyone, January slipped by us very quickly indeed so as we are already into February I think it’s time for us all to get out and about! Our first big club function of the year will be Valentine’s Night which is on Friday 13th! The theme for this year is “Flappers to Punks”, realistically this covers everything from the 1920’s to 1980’s so from a fancy dress point of view it’s a no brainer!! Use your imagination, I know you are not short on that front because we spent the whole night last year laughing at the amazing outfits! I had an email today from partyworld.ie who specialise in fancy dress and they have 25% off at the moment for a limited time, so have a look! Dressing up is of course optional. Tickets on sale from the bar at a very reasonable €25 which includes a buffet and disco with Dj Mark. This is a really fun night, bring along your friends. Don’t miss it!
I can now confirm the dates for two of our very popular “Presentation Nights” the first one is on the 11th March with Eddie Nicholson, Eddie gave a fantastic presentation last year with his ARC adventures and this year his presentation follows that trip up with his return voyage across the Atlantic, I am really looking forward to it.The second presentation will be on the 18th March with Maurice “Prof” O’Connell who has a great presentation on the Commodores Cup which as you know featured two KYC sailors, Ian Travers and James Bendon, should be a cracker!
Our recently formed Membership Committee are hoping to have an “Open Day” to encourage new members to the club, personally I think this is a great idea, the provisional date for this is 15th March but I will confirm this in due course.
St Patricks Weekend is always a great weekend in Kinsale, the Parade of Sail will be held on the 16th March followed by “Club Frolics and Stew” in the bar to heat everyone up! Really looking forward to that one!
I know May is in the distance, but our newly formed Motor Boat Class under the helm of Jack Hegarty are planning a fishing day with Fishy Fishy BBQ in the club on the 16th , this promises to be a really great day, The Daunt Race is on the same day so the craic will be mighty in the club, don’t miss it!
We are now on the cusp of Six Nations Rugby, all Irish matches will be shown in the bar with finger food to keep our energy levels up!
As always, if you wish to book a function in the club, please contact any member of the social committee, Caroline, Regina, Stephan, Sue, myself( Dave) and I would also like to take this opportunity to welcome Miriam Walsh to the team!
