Rear Commodore's Update

14 April, 2015

Hi All,

Welcome to your April Update! The Spring Series is finally on the go and as you are probably aware the All Ireland Chowder Cook Off is on next weekend, as we will be having racing on next Sunday 19th April, we have decided to have a “KYC CHOWDER FRINGE FESTIVAL” of our own! Chef Kevin will be serving his own magnificent chowder in the club after racing, €5. Not to be missed!

As you all know, 2015 is a big anniversary of the sinking of the "Lusitania", Kyc will be presenting a talk by Dermot Ryan on the "Lusitania" on Wednesday 22nd April at 8pm, please bring along your friends and family in support of this historic year.

GYM update, there has been many requests for the introduction of a treadmill in the club gym, this has now been purchased and installed.

The Spring Series prize giving supper will be held on Saturday 25th April in the club, there will be a buffet from 6pm onwards, tickets are available from the bar at a very competitive €15, book early to avoid disappointment.

Sunday Bites! From Sunday 26th April our chef Kevin will be serving sandwiches in the bar, (Sundays only), From 12 to 3pm. Kevin is also planning a “pop up” BBQ series over the summer, the idea being that forecast permitting, he will, at short notice, BBQ in the club. Details will be posted on Facebook and on a blackboard in the dingy park on the day, so keep your eyes peeled on sunny days!!

Wednesday 29th April sees the start of midweek racing, sailing suppers will, as always, be served from that date.

Saturday 2nd and Sunday 3rd May sees us holding the Keelboat Regatta. There will be a BBQ in the club on Sunday.

Sunday 10th May is the Horserock Trophy. The Vintage Car Club will be showing off some magnificent motors in the dingy park from 11-2pm, should be great fun!

The weekend of the 16th May is going to be very busy, the Oppie Munster Championships is on, so too is the Daunt Race, the RCYC are racing to KYC and to top all that, the KYC Motorboat Class are holding their first day out! Full details to follow nearer that weekend.

Sea Sunday will be on the 24th May.

As always, feel free to contact any member of the social committee if you would like to organise a function in the club.
