KYC Sailing Updates for May 2015

Now that the club sailing season has kicked off and the club leagues are in full swing it is time to review the sailing programme for the next few weeks. For those of you who are interested in the workings of the progressive ECHO handicap system Denis Kiely has written a paper describing how the system works. We have published it on the KYC website under “Latest News”.

The Horse Rock trophy is planned for this Sunday 10th May FG 11:55. Please note earlier start time than what is stated in sailing program. There is currently an adverse weather forecast for this race, a decision to race or not will be made closer to the day.

The race to the Daunt Rock is scheduled for Saturday 16th FG 11:55. Note the RCYC fleet are racing to Kinsale on the same day and will be sharing our finishing line. Also the Optimist Championships are taking place in Kinsale on 16th & 17th, please respect them by not sailing through their race courses.

The Kinsale – Fastnet – Glandore race is planned for Friday 29th May FG 19:25

Saturday 30th race from Kinsale to Glandore FG9:55

Sunday 31st race from Glandore to Kinsale FG 10:55

Further details of these races and social plans will be communicated closer to the event.

All In Races

The first of the all in keel boat races this year is for the Craemer Stockford Tropy and will be sailed on Friday 22th May FG 18:25. Please note the earlier start time than what was originally posted in the sailing program. The four all in keel boat trophy races will this year be sailed as a series under the progressive ECHO handicap system. As a result all boats including one design boats if they sail will have their own individual handicap TCC. A set of handicaps are currently being prepared with the help of Denis Kiely. These handicaps will only be valid for the Friday night all in events as they take into account the wide range of boats being sailed and also the typical Friday night weather conditions prevailing in the harbour.

Fishing Trip

As already notified the fishing trip is postponed from next weekend to the 25th July.

All changes noted here will be posted in the online version of the Sailing Program Rev. 1
