Vice Comodore's Update #2

19 February, 2016

Vice Commodore update Feb 2016.

Hello Sailors…..

I’m pleased to report that the sailing season is finally underway with three races sailed last Sunday (14th Feb) providing thrills and spills – please see the KYC facebook page and read the excellent sailing report by Michelle Kenneally.

The KYC calendar for 2016 is always being revised and a new version will be on the website soonest.

The significant changes are –

Earlier FG for Frostbite series (10.55 HRS).

Gunsmoke Bell now on Friday 20th may (FG 18.55 HRS)

Fastnet Race now on Friday 27th May (FG 18.25 HRS)

Creamer Stockford all-in now on Friday 27th May (FG 18.55 HRS)

The Yachting Monthly Triangular Race is ETA Kinsale Wednesday 15th June and will restart on Friday 17th June. KYC will have three Yachts competing in this event.

1720 Europeans are scheduled for 1st, 2nd and 3rd of September (more later).

The Ted Ender Trophy will be presented as an overall prize for the all-in keelboat series. Ted Ender provided KYC with stalwart service in race management and I would like to thank Bruce & June Matthews for providing a Trophy in his memory.

The five qualifying all-in races are….

Creamer Stockford Friday 27th May.
Bertoletti Trophy Friday 10th June.
Perry Knox Gore Friday 8th July.
“All In Keelboat” Friday 22nd July.
Spalpeen Trophy Friday 26th August.

Neil J Prendeville will be the Principle Race Officer for the Spring Series and excellent racing is anticipated. I would ask all our cruiser members to remind potential visiting boats that they are most welcome to enter. (Dates : Mon 28th March, Sun 3rd, 10th, 17th and Sat 23rd  April). A free marina berth is included with each entry.

That’s it for now.
