REAR COMMODORE HOUSE UPDATE SEPTEMBER 2016
Hi all,
I would like to start off this update with the invitation to an event! Chief Supt. Tom Hayes of the West Cork Division is retiring, his family, friends and colleagues are organising a Coffee Morning to celebrate the tireless effort he has put in, serving the public and keeping us all safe. The coffee morning will be held in Kinsale Yacht Club next Friday morning the 23rd of September from 11am, this will be a fundraiser for Marymount Hospice and Union Hall Inshore Lifeboat and donations will be accepted on the morning. All members and friends are welcome!
Sailing Stuff:
Due to the vagaries of our weather, we have two events which were postponed coming up, on Sunday the 25th of September we have the Kinsale At Home for all fleets, there will be a free BBQ for members to thank you all for your help over the year whether on a daily/weekly or monthly basis. It would be impossible to run events in the club without this very important contribution from you!
The Squib Nationals will now be held on the 1st and 2nd of October.
The White Sail Autumn Series continues every Sunday FG13.25 and there are two trophy races up for grabs! Sunday the 9th of October we have the Cimarron Trophy and on the 16th we have the Dick Hegarty Trophy.
House Stuff:
Due to the poor uptake, Sunday Lunch has been taken off the menu! We are trying to work on something, perhaps toasted sandwiches to facilitate the membership but it is impossible to keep up a full lunch schedule if it’s not supported, we thank those who did support it and apologise for the inconvenience.
On Saturday the 24th of September Mick will again host a Supper Club and Piano Bar, music from 7.30pm, this is a new initiative and we hope this will prove popular, please book in advance.
On Friday the 4th of November we will have the Laying Up Supper and I will notify you when the tickets go on sale, as usual it will be payment for tickets up front, we will not take bookings for this event due to the demand from our members.
KYC has not held a New Years Eve Party since 1998! We have been approached by the membership to have one this year and we are currently organising same, put the date in your diary, I will update in due course! Some old traditions are surely worth bringing back!
We are still taking bookings for private functions in the club, these have proved to be very successful this year, the club is the perfect location for a party of any description and the catering is fantastic! The “Old Dining Room” is available for smaller parties or meetings, Mick our chef will cater for groups of 15+, consider this option for your Christmas Party, hassle free fun!
That’s it for this month!
Looking forward to seeing you in the club!
Sue Horgan
