A Christmas Message from the Commodore Tom Roche

“2016, one could describe as “a fantastic” year for Kinsale Yacht Club on many fronts. It is amazing how the festive season has come around again so quickly, it seems like a very short time ago that we dragged the old Christmas tree out of the clubhouse. For the coming celebrations the mistletoe is now hung up again and the decorations are out.

Sue Horgan the house Rear Commodore, and her team have made the club house look very cosy and warm for the festive season.

Christmas time is a very special time of year for friends to catch up and for family to get together and exchange gifts. Make sure that you bring your family and friends to the club house to enjoy a drink or a mince pie during their Kinsale shopping rounds or over the holidays.

For those who wish to see in the New Year in style there is a New Year’s Eve party which promises to be an excellent night. Please ensure that you book your tickets early.

2017 will be a Sovereign’s Cup year. If you are planning your sailing calendar over the Christmas make sure that you include this regatta in your plans.

Rumour has it that a very special visitor will be at the club next Sunday and the children will all be excited to see who it is!! I wonder will Rudolf be there??

The AGM is on Thursday 22nd at 2000 hours. It would be nice to see you at the AGM to discuss the club business.

The last sail of 2016 is on St Stephen’s Day with the long established Gun Smoke Bell. This is one of the best days of the year in the club, so don’t miss out and get out on the water. A huge thanks to Sammy Cohen for his very generous sponsorship.

From myself and the Management Committee, have a very safe and happy Christmas.

Fair winds and following seas for 2017.

Happy Christmas

Tom Roche
