Rear Commodore House update

28 February, 2017

Hi Everybody,

It’s hard to believe that January and February have come and gone already and we are now heading towards Spring, time to scrub down the boat for the season to come!
The pool room has been renovated to ensure the stability of the floor, I know it took time between engineers inspections, reports etc. and the fact that we were wary of taking on this work while the kitchen was busy, directly underneath this floor and not knowing what we faced until it was stripped out, anyway, the room is looking fantastic and is open for business again, we hope you enjoy it!!

I would like to remind you all that the St Patricks Parade of Sail is on Thursday 16th of March, this event has turned into a real local Kinsale event with the crowds getting bigger each year, Kinsale Yacht Club management committee would encourage you all to enter this event and light up your boat and take part. Mick, our chef will be doing a “Bowl of Stew” for €5 on the night, this proved very popular last year as the club tends to get very busy after the parade. Looking forward to it!

Another date for your diary is Sunday March 26th , Mother’s Day Lunch in the club, as numbers are limited, please book in the bar to ensure your table!
Sovereign’s Cup Update: Kevin Murray tells me that by the first cut off date they had 58 confirmed entries, this is fantastic news for the event, the next cut off date is 17th of April if you haven’t already entered! There is a great line up of entertainment and a Ladies Charity Lunch in aid of the RNLI and Sailability, full details to follow….

Sailing Stuff: I must start off by informing you all that I have been the purveyor of FAKE NEWS, yes you read that right! In last month’s update I provided you with alternative facts, taken from the KYC Google Calendar! The sponsor of the Frostbite Series is in fact OSEAN74, so apologies for the error which was pointed out by Jeff Condell, thanks Jeff. (Good to know someone reads this stuff!!)

The Frostbites continue until the 12th of March.

The March League begins on Sunday 19th of March FG 11.55 and continues to Sunday 2nd of April.

Junior Sailing: Our junior sailing organiser John Stallard has produced an update to be circulated shortly, this gives all the latest info on training and summer sailing courses.

As always, if you would like to book a private function in the club, please contact either myself or chef Mick Glynn, Mick will cater for groups of 15 or over, the food is amazing and the location unbeatable!

That’s it for now, looking forward to seeing you in the club!
