May Update from Sue

30 April, 2017

Hi Everyone,

The month of April has been very benign weather wise for the time of year, dry and light winds were the order of the day for the Spring Series, perhaps that’s why we had a Basking Shark swimming through the fleet last Sunday! It’s probably only in Ireland that you would warn the fleet to “Please do not hit the shark”, to be fair, the competitors were very courteous to said shark and he eventually left the race course! The final race of the Spring Series is this Saturday with a prize giving buffet in the club at around 5.30pm.

For those of you living in Kinsale, it’s probably worth mentioning a big event happening in the town next week EMS Gathering 2017 is coming to Kinsale for two days, Thursday and Friday, this is an annual gathering for the emergency services where they take part in various presentations from eminent medics and partake in on the water and on land activities, have no doubt that you will encounter them around the town and indeed they are coming to KYC also on
the Thursday which is really fantastic for the club, we look forward to welcoming them to KYC!
The O Leary Life Sovereigns Cup will be upon us soon and we are getting ourselves organised for this event, entries are up at around the 80 mark at this stage which is fantastic, if you haven’t entered yet, now is the time! Apart from the sailing, apres sailing and all the rest, there will be a Ladies Lunch on the Friday, tickets will be going on sale shortly, this was a top notch day out at the last Sovs and I am certainly looking forward to the upcoming one!
As always, if you would like to book a private function, please contact me or any staff member for assistance, we look forward to helping in any way we can!
Kinsale Rugby Sevens is on this weekend, so for those of you not sailing enjoy the rugby!
