REAR COMMODORE HOUSE UPDATE MAY 2018
Hi all,
I would like to begin this update with the great news that we have a new chef on board!

Rob will begin serving sailing suppers from Wednesday 2nd of May, so, food will be available Wed through to and including this Saturday 5th of May. I would like to wish Rob all the best going forward and I hope he will be very well supported by our club members! More later…

SAILING STUFF:
The Spring Series sponsored by James Matthews and Helly Hansen was a fantastic success both on and off the water with mixed weather conditions and “Champagne Sailing” on some of the days, especially last Saturday. Amazing weather and 125 booked in for the Barracuda BBQ for the prizegiving which was enjoyed by club members and visitors alike, a great day out!

JUNIOR SAILING: Continues as normal, Junior Class Captain John Stallard tells me that bookings for the Junior Sailing Summer Courses are strong, so if you would like to make a booking, now is the time in order to avoid disappointment!

DARKNESS INTO LIGHT RUN: This event will take place for the first time in Kinsale on Sat 12th May, , it starts at Saile at 4.15am and we have been asked as a club to support this event by Lighting Up. So if you can put on your mast lights or any lights you have on board on Friday night,  when the people taking part are coming along the pier road there will be a spectacle of light for them. Anyone wishing to bring their boats up to the bridge to meet the run will also be very welcome (but it is in the middle of the night!) This event is in aid of Pieta House and is a fantastic cause with the epidemic of depression blighting the country. Please help out by lighting up!!

DATES FOR YOUR DIARY:
Cruiser race to Glandore Saturday 2nd June FG @ 10.55 with the return race back on the Sunday FG @ 11.55

There is so much coming up in June that I could be here all day. One big one for your diary will be on Wed 20th of June. Ron Holland will be doing a presentation on his new book “All the Oceans” @ 8.30 after racing, this event is in aid of Sail Training Ireland and I will give you a full update in my June episode!

That about wraps it up for this month, as always, if you wish to book a private function in the club, please give me a shout. We will give the new chef a chance to settle in for a time being before giving his number out, but as always we are open for business and have quite a few private functions coming up. As you all know, these functions are vital to the running of the club.
Happy sailing to all and I look forward to seeing you in the club!
Sue Horgan
