At 14:00, Saturday 20th June, the gun fires at Wicklow Harbour and another Round Ireland Yacht Race is under way. It’s Ireland’s premier offshore race and the second longest on the RORC calendar.
“Kinsale Yacht Club is very proud to have our sailors on the start line.”
Tony Kingston and his son Jack Kingston are racing double-handed aboard Shindig, their Swan 40.
Micheal O’Suilleabhain (3rd at the recent 1720 Nationals) is racing aboard Trevor Middleton’s Black Sheep.
Sam Hunt and Cian McCarthy (McCarthy with O’Suilleabhain 3rd at the recent 1720 Nationals) have teamed up with John Malone and Emmet Sheridan (Lough Ree YC and recent winners of the Cantor Fitzgerald sponsored Inishtearaght Skelligs Race in IRC) aboard Loinnir Girl.
To Tony, Jack, Michael, Sam, Cian, John (Lough Ree YC), Emmet (Lough Ree YC) and Trevor (RORC): sail safe, sail fast and bring her home.
We will be watching the YB Tracking App and Social Media. You can also get regular updates over at Afloat.
From our members to the management team and all of our staff, the whole club is behind you.
Fair winds and following seas.
Anthony O’Neill
Commodore, Kinsale Yacht Club
