After 704 nautical miles around Ireland, the hardest part was saved for last. Shindig (KYC) has crossed the line at Wicklow, with the father and son team of Tony and Jack Kingston grinding out a 66 mile beat straight into the wind for the final act. It was a finish that asked everything of them and boy did they deliver in true style.
Provisional results puts Shindig top of the Cruisers, second in IRC Class 4 and second in IRC Double-Handed.
For a two-handed crew sharing every watch between them, that is a result worth savouring, Kinsale is proud…
Loinnir Girl is also home (Lough Ree and Kinsale crew of John Malone (Lough Ree YC), Emmet Sheridan (Lough Ree YC), Sam Hunt (KYC) and Cian McCarthy (KYC) ) topping IRC Class 3.
Kinsale’s Micheal O’Suilleabhain crewing on Black Sheep is in too.
“Well done Tony, Jack, Cian, Sam, Michael, John and Emmet. Great performance. Congratulations from everyone at Kinsale Yacht Club, Anthony O’Neill – Commodore”
