Junior racing came to an end for the season with the conclusion of the Kinsale Collective August League.

Racing was held each Tuesday evening on the waters off Charles Fort.

Bill Appelbe did a brilliant job coordinating a fantastic group of parents, both on land and on the water, making sure each evening ran smoothly and, most importantly, was as enjoyable as possible for all the sailors.

Race Officer Supremo Tim Cronin was once again in charge, with fleets of more than 20 boats regularly taking part.

In the Topper fleet, Tristan Bendan sailed a superb series to take a comfortable win. Behind him there was a close battle between the Appelbe siblings, with Harry just edging out his sister Grace for second place and Grace taking third. Fourth was the ever-improving Ailbhe Fitzgerald, with Izzie Crowley rounding out the top five.

In the Oppies, Olaf Sorensen took the win with Polly Sorensen second and Penny Sorensen in third.

A massive thank you to Ciaran Fitzgerald and the Kinsale Collective for their generous prizes and, of course, the pizzas for all the competitors!

That concludes our summer racing programme, but junior sailing continues throughout the autumn with sessions every Sunday morning.

If you would like to join in the fun, please get in touch with the relevant class captain.

Update: Brian Goggin.
