Rear Commodore House Update

07 October, 2016

Dear members,

Welcome to this month’s update! I’m afraid I need to start off this month on an important housekeeping issue, I have requested in previous house updates that our club members would not park on the pier or slipway but this request has been ignored by some of our members and so what follows is a message from our Commodore Tom Roche:

The Commodore of the club has received an official written complaint from the Harbour Master of Kinsale Harbour in regard to vehicles parking on the commercial pier in Kinsale. On a number of occasions the vehicles parked on the pier caused a huge inconvenience to the management of the pier. As you can understand, this causes great difficulty when fishing vessels need to discharge or ships need to unload and so on.
The pier in Kinsale is a RESTRICTED PARKING AREA and is not part of the normal parking designated areas of Kinsale. There are signs, which are very visible on the pier, clearly explaining that parking on the pier is not allowed. I would ask all members to please comply with the signs on the pier of Kinsale and avoid parking on the pier. This message is being sent to request that members of Kinsale Yacht Club would not use the pier as a parking lot. I am sure that members will understand the need to comply with the Harbour Master’s instructions in this regard.
I thank you for your time to read this message and look forward to seeing you at the Laying Up Supper on 4th November next.
Yours faithfully,
Thomas W Roche
