Rear Commodore House Update

09 November, 2017

Hi all,

First of all I would like to congratulate Georgina Griffin from our Sailability Class on winning Kinsale Yacht Club Person Of The Year, and what a year she has had, apart from her success on the water, Georgina also turned 21 recently, so a big huge HAPPY BIRTHDAY too!!

The Laying Up Supper was a fantastic success, (well I enjoyed it tremendously!) the food was excellent so a big thank you to our chef Mick and his team, our band The Paupers were brilliant and have been poached by the RCYC for an upcoming event there! A lot of work goes into organising this event every year and I would like to thank anyone who helped out, it’s much appreciated!!

Staying on the social side we have a big night of sport to look forward to this Saturday 11th Nov, At 17.30 Ireland V South Africa in Rugby followed by Ireland V Denmark in Soccer at 19.45, and so if you don’t want to budge between matches Mick our Chef will provide Apres Match Food after the rugby, he will have a menu available on the night!

Speaking of Christmas, I would like to remind you that we have a selection of KYC merchandise for sale in the bar, great stocking fillers, check it out!

SOCIAL DATES FOR YOUR DIARY: The KYC Kids Christmas Party will be on Sunday 10th of December at 2.30, this is always a great day out and I am reliably informed that the Big Man himself is taking time out from his busy schedule to come and visit us all in the club, fair play Santa, we know how busy you are!!

CHRISTMAS LUNCH: As I mentioned in a previous update, we have been asked to provide a Christmas Lunch for members and guests, this will be held on Tuesday 19th of December in the club, bookings are going very well for this event at the moment so in order to avoid disappointment, please book with Mick or in the bar, as stated, guests are more than welcome!

ADULTS CHRISTMAS PARTY/DODGY JUMPER NIGHT: Friday 22nd of December, now as you all know at this stage (because we hold this event every year) the standard of really dodgy jumpers is getting better each year because of our amazing DIY skills, and obviously the dodgier the better! I would like to take this opportunity to invite/challenge the parents of our Junior Sailors to participate in this epic fun night this year and show us what you are made of!

PRIVATE PARTIES/EVENTS: Thank you to all who booked private parties in the club this year, I know we still have a few coming up and I’m sure they will be epic! If any of our members would like to host their Christmas “office party” for want of a better word, now is the time to book!

Looking forward to seeing you in the club. Sue Horgan
