Rear Commodore House Update August 2018

01 August, 2018

Hi everyone,
As the rain falls heavily this morning and we await Summer Part II, it’s time to do the August Update to let you all know what’s happening in the club!

House Matters:
As you all know, Kinsale Yacht Club has 5 Anchors, is Board Failte Approved and also has a Blue Flag. What you probably don’t know is that there is quite a lot of work involved in maintaining and keeping these approvals. We recently had a Blue Flag inspection on a Sunday morning. This involves the marina, dinghy park and all aspects of the club building itself, kitchen, changing rooms etc. In addition to a normal inspection ,the 5 Anchors also send people to inspect all aspects of the club. We don’t know when they come or who they are. This is a secret inspection and Board Failte also do an annual inspection of the club. One of their recommendations is to replace the carpet in the bar and hallway, this process is underway at the moment and when the production run is complete in the next few weeks we will be in a position to do this work. I would like to thank the Tuesday Morning Coffee Ladies for their assistance in choosing the carpet and I hope it will meet with your approval when it arrives!

The Oppie Nationals are on in KYC this month, this is a huge event for the club. It begins with a parade to the club for the opening of the event on Wednesday 15th August and sailing 16th to the 19th August. They are expecting somewhere in the region of 200+ oppies competing. We wish them the best of luck with this very prestigious event and I’m sure many of you will be helping out and for this we thank you in advance.

So lots happening in Kinsale Yacht Club during the month. We have also had several very successful parties/functions in the club with more booked in during the Autumn and although I am in danger of repeating myself here, these events are vital to the club coffers, so if you would like to book an event or party, you know where we are!!

I think we can leave it at that for this month, as always, looking forward to seeing you support your club!
