The Squib Northern Championships were held this weekend at the Royal North of Ireland Yacht Club (RNIYC), featuring a fiercely competitive fleet of 22 boats, including many former national champions. The event saw five thrilling races over two days.

Kinsale Yacht Club’s Ian Travers and Keith O’Riordan, sailing Atomic, emerged victorious, showcasing their skill and determination. Close behind in second place were Dick Batt and Gordy Withers from Royal Victoria Yacht Club/Killyleagh Yacht Club. The podium was completed by Ross Kearney and Michael Wright from the host club, RNIYC.

Another strong performance came from Kinsale Yactht Club’s Crackers, helmed by Sean and Paul Murphy, who secured a respectable 9th place in the competitive fleet.

The weekend’s racing was a testament to the high caliber of competition and camaraderie in the Squib class, with Kinsale sailors making their mark in Northern waters.  Bravo!
