Excitement is building as a talented crew from Kinsale Yacht Club’s U25 squad prepares to compete in the highly anticipated Kingstown to Queenstown (K2Q) Race. On July 12th, the dynamic team of Michéal O’Suilleabhain, Cliodhna O’Suilleabhain, Rory Carroll, Mikey Carroll, and Jack O’Sullivan will set sail from Dun Laoghaire, taking on the thrilling journey to Cobh.

SCORA, the South Coast Offshore Racing Association, alongside ISORA, has announced that the K2Q 2024 race will kick off at 11 a.m. on July 12th.  This prestigious event promises intense competition and showcases the best of offshore sailing talent.  This years race could see over twenty entries.

The Kinsale Yacht Club crew will sail the renowned Sunfast 3300, “Cinnamon Girl – Eden Capital,” a yacht already celebrated for its impressive performance.  Notably, this is the same boat that Kinsale Yacht Club’s Cian McCarthy and Sam Hunt sailed during this year’s SSE Renewables Round Ireland Yacht Race when they impressively finished 2nd place in the IRC Two Handed Class.

A big shout out to Cian and Sam for their inspiring achievement and to Cian for very generously letting the U25s command Cinnamon Girl – Eden Capital on this years K2Q!

Stay tuned as these young sailors (recently receiving sponsorship from La Bougie) embark on an unforgettable adventure, representing Kinsale Yacht Club with skill and determination.

Let’s cheer on Cliodhna, Michéal, Mikey, Jack, and Rory as they strive for victory in the K2Q 2024!  Go Kinsale U25s!” – Anthony Scannell,  Commodore & Anthony O’Neill, Vice Commodore.
